2012–2016 Major Fundraising Campaign
Speech delivered by Sonia Vachon, our Honorary Patron

Sonia Vachon major fundraising campaign honorary patron

Ladies and Gentlemen:

It is with great pleasure that I have accepted to serve as the chair of the Foundation's 3rd major campaign. It's no secret that I was born here, I grew up here, and that Magog is imprinted on my heart.

Despite my very hectic schedule, I regularly visit my family and friends, which allows me to keep a finger on the pulse of a number of projects and stay up-to-date on their progress.

Our hospital stands out as a good example of progress. In the transition over the years from an orphanage to today's health and social services center, many challenges have been met for the betterment of health care in our community.

The challenge this time is no less important: having cancer treatment right here in our community.

Let's honor the donors and volunteers who came before us and who have made it possible for us to take advantage of the health-care institution that we have today.

We must continue to improve the range of services and health care available to us. So, I am asking you to make a donation to the campaign to help us achieve this objective.

Your generosity may one day benefit a friend, a relative, a neighbor, or maybe even yourself.

On behalf of all those individuals who won't have to travel to Sherbrooke for chemotherapy,

I thank you!

Your Health-Care Partner in Fighting Cancer

In order to better respond to the increasingly complex needs of our patients and clients as well as to complete the modernization and expansions undertaken in recent years, we need to continue putting efforts into acquiring new technologies. The Government of Quebec has agreed to support CSSSM requests by inviting us to hold a major fund-raising campaign to obtain the support of our MRC's population. This leverage enables the general public to obtain more health care and services from the CSSSM. Consequently, CSSSM management and Foundation directors have identified three broad areas of priority for which the accessibility, continuity, and quality of health care and services must be developed:

  • Develop oncology services : $1,000,000
  • Broaden operating-suite activities : $1,000,000
  • Consolidate home care : $500,000
  • Total : $2,500,000

“ Thank you for donating to the fight against cancer and to continually improve our local health care and services! ”
